Welcome!
Hello! I’m Gillian. My passion for technical theater comes from 13 years in the dance world (8 competitive). I thought I would love being ON the stage professionally, but I realized through high school productions that I much prefer the tech side of things vs. acting (not to mention I discovered I'm much better at audio work than acting - lol). When I'm not working on productions and projects, I enjoy reading, cross stitching, cooking, listening to music, attending shows, and hanging out with my albino gecko, Gideon.

Education
2019-2023
BFA Technical Production: Design and Management
Point Park University
Pittsburgh, PA
In April, 2023 I will receive my BFA through the Conservatory of Performing Arts, with a concentration in Audio Engineering. Experiences in both my Apprenticeship at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and off-site professional opportunities can be seen in the "Point Park University" and "Corningworks" sections of my website. I'm particularly proud of the balancing that can be heard under the "Showcases" and "Point Park University" sections, and several sounds I helped design found in the "Angels in America" Section, particularly the "breaking glass" sounds I made using the Foley Art technique.
2015-2019
High School Diploma, High Honors
International Baccalaureate Candidate
Kenmore West Sr. High School
Buffalo, NY
In high school, I participated in a college preparatory studies through the International Baccalaureate program. I entered Point Park better prepared to handle the rigors of higher education - longer and intermittent class times, extended project deadlines, collaborative work, independent learning - because of the IB program's collegiate-style method of learning. I also gained an understanding of and appreciation for global cultures and issues, which I believe gave me a strong foundation for the vast educational, social, cultural and financial diversity found in modern theater today.
Work Experience
2019-2023
Sound Shop Apprentice
Point Park University
Pittsburgh, PA
The apprenticeship has given me opportunities to: conduct load in and load outs; hang simple and complex rigging; and gain experience through both Playhouse Presented works, touring events and rentals, as well as in house productions. I've also increased my knowledge and honed my technical skills regarding the physical set up of equipment and audio engineering procedures as a whole.
2022
Shakespeare and Company
Lennox, Massachussets
I worked on the Company's premier of "The Approach", was involved with the technical aspects of their Shakespeare Youth Company's production of "These Violent Delights", and assisted in the Sound and Scenic Fabrication shops.
